Creative workspace

A community of creative businesses, filmmakers and artists in the heart of Camden Town

We provide affordable studios and workspaces for artists, designers, filmmakers and a variety of other creative businesses. The building accommodates a range of self-contained spaces, which benefit from the use of a large central meeting space and kitchen. Rent also includes management fees and service charges, high speed internet, heating, communal area cleaning, refuse collection and general building maintenance.

We are located just 5 minutes from Camden Town station, from where you can be in central London in less than 10 minutes. The cult cafes and street food stalls of Camden Lock, are a short walk along the canal.

31 Oval Road is a beautiful and inspiring place to work. Our spaces have high ceilings, large steel-framed windows and are grouped around a central meeting space that is filled with light and plants. The central space can be booked at no extra charge for daytime meetings and is the perfect venue for evening or weekend events. The South Pavilion, a ‘studio in the sky’, benefits from panoramic windows and a sprung wooden floor.

The building dates to 1931 when London Midland and Scottish Railway Company decided to build a new dining room for railway workers from Camden Goods Yard. It is thought that LMS intended to have the Cooperative Wholesale Society manage the dining room, but it never opened and after the Second World War it stood derelict until the early 1980s.

In 1983 architectural practice Anthony Richardson & Partners bought the freehold in conjunction with Charles Crittall as principal leaseholder and restored it, creating the light-filled atrium at the first floor and the South Pavilion. 31 Oval Road continues to be owned and managed by the Richardson family, who are committed to maintaining it as a home for design, architecture and creativity.
